Updated: Jun 28, 2019

Hey Gems!

Let's March on with the College Readiness plan and tips ! If you fail to plan, you plan to fail ! By now you've submitted your College Admission, Fafsa & Scholarship applications. You're most likely awaiting the responses for each submitted application while keeping your academic grades and extracurricular involvement up! You've been working hard since January and you are so ready for Spring Break! Am I right?

Most students will splurge their entire Spring Break binge-watching missed Netflix series or soaking up all fun they can get! We encourage you to exceed the expectations of the average student, that is, have fun but schedule some College preparation too! Here are some College Readiness tips for March.

March list for College Readiness

  1. Check College Admission Decisions- Visit the websites of all the colleges you applied to and check the status of your admission. Did you get in? If you've been accepted, Congrats!!! :-) In the case you were not accepted, cheer up it happens to the best of us :-\ Don't hesitate to ask the reasons why you weren't accepted. Are you missing documents? Was your application incomplete? Find out so you can plan your next step of action.

  2. Visit College campuses - Spring Break is a great time to visit the Colleges you desire to attend. Check out the college life first hand and resolve, in advance, any freshman hiccups such as living arrangements, transportation, parking, meal plans, financial aid and class registration. Believe me! You don't want to wait until the last minute filled with stress and anxieties. I learned the hard way... sigh

  3. Prepare for upcoming AP exams - Advanced Placement (AP) exams are often issued the first 2 weeks of May. Balancing AP exam studying time along with high school courses and extracurricular activities takes a considerable amount of work. Ensuring a great score on a college-level test requires at least a month in advance of studying time. Spring Break is a perfect time to get some studying in or at least organize course materials for easier studying. The scores of each AP tests can significantly boost or hurt your High School weighted GPA and your initial College GPA. Therefore your scores affect the outcome of your final college admission decision.

  4. Continue applying for Scholarships - GREAT NEWS! Verzatile Tutoring will be offering a scholarship page coming soon! Be sure to subscribe to get first dibs on applying to these scholarships. If there is one thing I regret in my High School and College years, is not applying consistently for scholarships...ugh! Don't make the same mistake I did. Every scholarship big or small is VALUABLE! Obtaining quality education DEBT FREE is VALUABLE & ATTRACTIVE!!! Don't sleep on free money, ok!

This wraps up the month of March! Here is a flyer to recap. Later Gems! #subscribe #share
